Travelling is a recreational activity which not only can give you pleasure but a lot of new experiences. It literally means moving from one place to another by any kind of vehicle which can be a daylong trip only or a long trip as well.  But there’s a significant difference between tourists and travelers. Because their destinations are usually very different, for instance, a tourist tends to visit the tourist hotpots and stays at a hotel or restaurants. On the other hand, travelers tend to take challenges to reach to any extent of a destination and can stay in any kind place or situation.Traveling affects your life in so many ways.

There are so many of us who travel to escape from our regular responsibilities, tensions and stresses or sometimes just to explore. Not just exploring places but culture, people and foods. Travelers are driven by wanderlust, often into self discovery finding the purpose of life. So let’s get to know how travelling can actually change a person’s life and perception.

Helps you to become independent:

The more you travel, the more you become independent and self-dependent of course. All the steps including the management of time and your budget along with the other small and big steps eventually builds a strong sense of liberty in you. You start relying on yourself and start finding your own limits. It’s a self discovery process while you know your lacking well and start working on it. Solo travelling can teach you so many things about yourself that you never could imagine. There are so many types of travelers. The “Solivagant” is a person who likes to travel solo. A “Fernweh” is someone who has far-sickness, which is the opposite of homesickness. A “Gallivanter” is someone who can do anything to get into travelling such as leaving their job.

You step out of your comfort zone:

You go beyond your boundaries and not only you explore new places but meet new people and their culture thus you step out of your own comfort zone. You start to cope up with any kind of situation including the language, weather and foods which help you to be more confident and you can realize the great changes within you. You face many challenges and try to sort out problems on your own that boosts your self-reliability.

Your world becomes more open:

You meet new people and goes to new places, you can connect to the new things in a deeper sense and you start to embrace all the little things you’re experiencing and thus you start to open up your world. When you start exploring places, people and culture, unknowingly you get much more curious about life. Travelling broaden your perspective in a drastic way. By exploring other people’s life and culture, you not only start appreciating other cultures but also start valuing your culture and values. You become empathetic to other cultures, make friends from different cultures and try to understand them. You learn how to do non-verbal communication where people don’t speak your language which helps you to read people. The perspective thus changes a lot and changes you.

It has scientifically confirmed that travelling helps people a lot in dealing with anxiety and stresses. It helps you to conquer your anxiety disorders by changing your habits and changes your coping mechanism in a lot of ways. It even reduces your social anxiety. You start becoming more confident with people and stop over thinking about life mostly thinking of the brighter sides of life, thus you over come with all the anxieties.

It has been mentioned a lot of time already but again needed a point specifically because by travelling, you don’t only get to know the people from other culture, but you get know about their lifestyle along with their sorrows and happiness. For some time you walk in their shoes to understand their life and how they’re really doing in life. It naturally broadens your mind because to know your state of mind or happiness, you always need to know other’s state of mind and happiness too. Life becomes more easy and flexible to you, and you start enjoying every little moment. Thus your self-improvement also happens by travelling.

Travelling has always been a self-development tool. Nature can make you fall in deep thoughts and make you realize how different like can be, the relaxation erases all the worries of the future, makes you realize there’s a long way to go in life and much more to see. It enhances one’s desire to live and to explore the world more. If we travel more often, we become optimistic about life desire to live long because we get into the belief that life is very short to see and explore the unexplored.
